Fall is here! Goodbye Summer!

Today is the Autumnal Equinox, which makes it officially fall! I have to tell you, Autumn is my favorite season, it's full of promises of great things to come. With Autumn comes the start of a new school year, the quickly approaching holidays, and the onset of cooler days. If you know me, you know how much I dislike being hot and sweaty, so I'm thrilled to see the end of summer!
With Autumn also comes the time to start thinking about the Holiday Portraits and cards. Last year, I had clients calling me well into December trying to have portrait sessions in time for Christmas or to put in rush portrait orders. This year, make your appointment early, and get your portrait orders in on time!
In honor of saying goodbye to summer, I'm going to leave you with one of my favorite images from this summer. My kids at the beach (actually getting along)!

Hands & Feet Project

For all 2009 weddings I will be giving a portion of what I make from each wedding and donating it to one of a few charities that are close to my heart. Over the next few weeks, I will be posting details on a different charity about once a week. The first nonprofit group I will be highlighting is the Hands & Feet Project https://www.handsandfeetproject.org . The Hands & Feet Project is a children's village that houses orphaned and abandoned children in Haiti. It was founded by the members of the band Audio Adrenaline (remember them?) when they decided it was time to take a break from making CDs to put their words into action. The Hands & Feet Project was recently visited by Hurricane Gustav and is undergoing repairs and clean-up. So they are in need now more than ever. On their website, if you click on the news tab, you can watch of video of the hurricane in action as it blows through the Hands & Feet village.

Giving Back...

In the US, we are constatntly seeing images in the media of people in need, who don't have all the necesities of life, muchless comforts that we enjoy on a daily basis. I'm always telling myself that someday when I have more money, more time, I'll do more... But recently when I spent the week with a great group of individuals who are all passionate about making a change, it reminded me that we need to create our someday. As humans put on the Earth by a God who calls us to love ALL people, we have an obligation to give to those who have not been given the same opportunities that we have been given. So for all 2009 weddings I will be giving a portion of what I make from each wedding and donating it to one of a few charities that are close to my heart. Over the next few weeks, I will be posting details on a different chariy about once a week. Each of these charities is near to my heart for a different reason, and although I know my contributions may be small in the grand scheme of things, in the end isn't it just important that I try? I encourage you to find causes that you connect with emotionally and whose purpose lines up with your own, then find out how you can make a difference. You can only be a better person for it.

Christine & Lino E- Session

I love engagement sessions. They are such relaxed sessions, ideal for getting the creative juices flowing. Christine and Lino were extra fun to shoot because they were just so happy together. Seriously, you can see how in love they are every time they look at each other. For our session, we first went to Lover's Point in Monterey, the headed down the way a bit to play on the beach - oh yeah and to shoot too. Here are a couple of my favorites from their session.

Welcome to my new blog!

Welcome to my new blog. I know, most of you are probably thinking, "But I never saw your old blog!" My old blog was a short lived project- I found that that blogging company I was using (who shall remain nameless) just wasn't meeting my needs. But this one looks way better anyway, and if you didn't see the old one you'll just have to take my word for it!
